A personal branding package to kick off my career journey
Summary
As my own client, I undertook the creation of a comprehensive personal branding package, with a primary focus on designing a memorable and professional business card. This academic project aimed to effectively communicate my brand identity and services as a web developer and designer, establishing a strong, cohesive visual presence.
A necessity of branding
Having a strong personal brand isn’t just helpful: it’s essential for standing out. My goal was to show that I’m more than just a capable apprentice — I want to be seen as someone who’s reliable, creative, and easy to work with. To bring my skills and personality to life, I needed something tangible to share with people. That’s why I focused on designing a business card that truly reflects who I am and gives potential employers and freelance clients a personal connection to my work.
The design process
I began with a creative brief and thorough target market research to understand the needs of potential employers and clients. Then, I developed detailed personas and mood boards to define the desired tone and aesthetic: professional, user-friendly, innovative, approachable, realistic, simple, and accessible. This iterative process ensured the final designs effectively communicated my key message: "Create user-friendly and visually appealing websites that drive engagement and growth."
Key deliverables
The central deliverable was a business card designed to be both memorable and professional. Two distinct variants were developed:
- Variant 01: Promotes a professional and classy design, utilizing straightforward layouts and simple shapes/patterns.
- Variant 02: Offers a stylish and simple design, incorporating curves to balance the sharp edges of the rectangular logo, creating a harmonious aesthetic.
Both variants were meticulously crafted to ensure accurate color reproduction (CMYK for print quality) and were designed for high-quality paper, reflecting a professional look and feel.
